Note: LG 18650 cells are not authorized or intended to be used as stand-alone, removable, rechargeable power sources for e-cigarette or vaping devices, or to be handled directly by consumers in any manner. Clients who inquire about LG loose cells must intend to manufacture battery packs with proper outer casing, PCM/BMS and protection functions and be able to provide documents to prove this.

The LG HB2 is a newer (2015) cell that has gained some attention because of its high maximum discharge current of 30A. That, combined with a safer chemistry (NMC) makes it an initially interesting choice for high-drain applications. The first downside is the capacity which is only 1500mAh - a downside today because there are other high-drain cells available that have double the capacity. Second, in tests the HB2 performs poorly at 30A, indicating that the cell should be nominally rated at a lower 22A current.

In Asia, 18650 batteries are binned by quality into A, B, and lower bins. C-bin batteries are often recycled from battery packs. Lower bin batteries will underperform and may be dangerous.

We will only provide A Grade cells, unless specifically required to otherwise, for example, some clients may prefer Grade B Chinese cells for low-cost ESS projects. We can also confirm batch-date code, run testing (like impedance/voltage/capacity), and handle other IQC requirements.
